Bob's Birthday Blog

I've been doing a lot of screwing lately...405 times to be precise...in the last week! On the stairs!

We are finally replacing that ancient puke carpet into the basement. I ripped off the carpet, peeled of the vinyl, and scraped the stairs for an eternity. Then I resurfaced the steps with "Iron-ply"(wood), and glued and screwed it down.
405 pilot holes, 405 counter sinks, and 405 screws.
It was a bit of a chore...lot's of backbreaking hard work...and frankly...not much fun. Until that is, about half-way down the stairs. It was then I had the thought, that screws (intentionally) placed in proximity to the guide X's, looked like little stick men. My attitude changed immediately! All of a sudden I realized I was building a veritable army of little stick dudes! (ALL of them...screwed by me! Hah!) Probably why my back is so sore. X, as in RoboXecet...marks the spot. (Photo credit to Barb)
And as you can see...I had some fun after that. Hint....zoom in on the dude below the O.

So today, about all I did was clean up my tools and crap...OMG

Then I decided to take the day off from reno's, and went out and took some garden pic's. It snowed a bunch last night, and this morning, and was a good photo op. I can barely wait to buy a new camera...(it is my Birthday...so that's ok, right?) Hope you enjoy this last(?) batch of photos made with my beloved Sony camcorder !

I love my gargoyle's. These two are treasured gifts from my beloved family.

I love this dude...he always seems to have such attitude, and in this photo, seems to be saying; "ahh shit....I am soooo tired of sitting out here in this *#%~^  snow."

He actually seems to be shedding a freakish rag doll tear in this shot.

"opposite...the same...yet infinity in between"

Well...my favorite son and my favorite daughter have been blogging a storm of great photo's. So here's a long overdue blog pic from poppa.

The February sun is a welcome thing to me. I am already enjoying some mild weather strolls around the yard thinking about garden upgrades and structures like decks, porches, pergolas and gazebos. It's nice to see the "terminator" between light and shadow shift a little more south everyday. I love light.

Here's a pic I took of the Galileo Thermometer Sarah bought me for Christmas, each of which I love. The intent of the photo was to catch a representation of direct light, refracted light and shadows. Inspired by MrE of coarse! Each component can be thought of as different from each other...yet they are all created from the same. The "distances" between them could be considered infinite in the realm of physics.

The title; " opposite...the same...yet infinity in between" is also a curious metaphor for the distance between myself and my kids...my Mom...and my brothers and sisters. Florida, two spots in Ontario, Alberta, and Naniamo BC. Quite a spread...hey? Barb and I are happy...but both sick. The (worst ever) Valentine gift from  me was this nasty headcold.! Thankfully we have each other to care for...."pass the Kleenex".

Inside Out Christmas Tree

Here's an inside tree that appears to be outside. ooooo....scary stuff kids. It's actually a reflection on the kitchen window looking out at the arbour and shrub in the backyard. I know...I have no life. But who else do you know... who shares upside down and inside out christmas trees with you? Huh?

Upside Down Christmas Tree

I took this shot while the afternoon sun of a Chinook sunset bathed the living room. When I downloaded the pics I rotated to correct this one. Presto! Upside Down Christmas Tree....the easy way! I am such a genius!
May the season... not turn you... upside down. 'Cause that...may likely...cause a frown. It's all about perspective. Be happy.
